Daniel Zamir programmed the random style generator for the Deep Dreamers Facebook group members. The generator creates collages of four images each selected from folders on your PC.
To use the random style generator, first download it from http://somedata.info/ImageManipulationPillowProject.7z. Next, unzip the files and save. To start the generator, open the files and look for the folder “distr” (figure 1).

Double-click on “distr” and the folder “app” will open (figure 2).

Double-click again, and from the long list of files that you now see, select “app.exe” (figure 3).

To start the generator, click on app.exe.
Tip: Create a shortcut to “app.exe” on your desktop by right-clicking on the file name and selecting “send to” in the pop-up window and “desktop (create shortcut)” (figure 4).

Be patient, starting the generator takes a while. A black code window will open (figure 5).

A second window in which to enter the file path for the four folders from which the generator selects images will open as well (figure 6)

Tip: To fit the images, the generator downscales each image to the smallest width and height of the selected four, so it works best for images with similar width and height.

Caution: You cannot save the image in the app in which it opens. To save, you must click on the Save button in the generator (see figure 6). Clicking on Save will open a window suggesting a folder (figure 8).
Clicking on Save will open a window suggesting a folder (figure 8).

If the file path is correct, click on “Select folder” and the image will be saved to that folder and will automatically be named “style.jpg” (figure 9).
Caution: Only click the button “Select folder” and do not write anything in the blank field after “Folder:” or the image won’t be saved.

Rename the image file according to your preferred naming convention.
Now your style is ready to use for dreaming – enjoy!
